Initiatives
With the COVID-19 outbreak deterring travel all over the world, it comes to no surprise that the hospitality industry is currently facing some heavy headwinds.
However, there are several noteworthy initiatives which aim to reduce the detriment that this pandemic is causing the hospitality industry. Senate Republicans unrolled a $1 trillion economic stimulus package plan to aid airlines as well as other businesses which have been “hit hard” due to COVID-19. Similarly, Best Western Hotels & Resorts have also taken measures to ease the financial burden for its hoteliers. Marriott International is deferring most brand standards such as required renovations, to help owners and franchisees. Finally, Asian American Hotel Owners Association (AAHOA) hosted a webinar “The Impact of COVID-19 on America’s Hotel Owners: Holding the Line & Protecting your Revenue,” providing sales strategies for hotel owners affected by the pandemic.
AAHOA’s grandest initiative towards aiding hoteliers however, is the collection of detrimental coronavirus stories to send to elected government officials. AAHOA is imploring distressed hoteliers to voice their story on their website, to urge lawmakers to provide additional support to hoteliers. Please click here to submit the petition.
